Welcome to EAA
|
 |
This is the essential site for up to date architecture news, CPD and social events in the Edinburgh chapter area.
The Directory of Architects is available (free!) for all architects and practices to upload comprehensive practice information, including images of their work. This database is a very useful tool for prospective clients & consultants to locate an architect.
If you are looking for staff or seeking new challenges, vacancies may be advertised on the site (also free!).
The site also contains details of the EAA council membership & minutes of council meetings, so all EAA chapter members can keep up to date with what we are doing and who to contact on relevant issues; like education, RIAS and local authority performance.

After Dark Debate Series The Council's City Design Leader, --B--Riccardo Marini--/B-- will be hosting a series of 'after dark debates' in the Urban Room based on guest speakers telling us their 'Edinburgh Story'. Each speaker will show the impact that 'place' has on their work, buildings and spaces and how place has been influential in their thinking. FLEXIBLE WAY TO GAIN CONTINUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT with the CPD Online Academy We listened to companies when they said they were interested in our continual professional development (CPD) courses but staff couldn't attend a particular date or couldn't take time off work due to work commitments.
We then created the CPD Online Academy which is a truly flexible way of learning allowing the delegate to watch a course with accompanying notes any time of the day, anywhere in the world.
Of course the online courses will not replace traditional classroom learning and we will continue to offer a variety of seminars on campus.
The courses are competitively priced and we have 10 courses currently on offer including various health and safety courses, planning construction projects, NEC3, RICS New Rules of Measurement to name but a few; and a further 8 courses will be made available within the next two weeks and we are planning further filming to continually expand our selection of courses over the coming months.
Looking towards autumn, we plan to provide our courses as podcasts which will allow people to learn on the move with supplementary notes available for download and study.
To find out more about what courses we provide or to buy and view any of our courses please visit our website www.cpdonline.org.uk Saltire Awards Announce New Innovation Award… and welcome Malcolm Fraser to 2011 Annual Chair Scotland’s oldest design awards scheme - The Saltire Society Housing Design Awards - has launched its 2011 Call for Entries with the announcement of a brand new, Scottish Govt-backed ‘Innovation in Housing’ Award, and the news that Malcolm Fraser, one of Scotland’s best known and most outspoken architects, will become only its second ever Annual Chair.
